August 3rd, 2003. Shea Stadium, Flushing NY. By Rob Stecklow. The 3rd annual Stecklow.com Bleacherfest was a big success both on the field and off as 100 family and friends gathered in the bleacher section of Shea Stadium on Sunday. The new twist this year was that the event was a fund raiser. Ellen was in charge of the "raffle" and she put forth quite an impressive effort, gathering over 25 baskets of wonderful prizes. Between the ticket donation and raffle, almost $2000 dollars was raised for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. More 'amazing' than the money raised was that the Mets even pulled out the "W", breaking our 1 game bleacherfest slide and moving our overall record to 2-1. The day ended with a fun time on the field as kids (and some adults) got to run the Shea Stadium bases as part of the Mets DynaDash. A special thanks to Joel and his family for once again organizing the wonderful food spread - highlights included 6 foot heroes, fried chicken, and my personal favorite 2003 addition - Krispy Kream Donuts! As always, round of applause for Jordy, aka Bleacherfest Executive, who so graciously paid for all the tickets upfront. Thanks to Eric for lugging in the tasty ices. Thanks to Wylie for once again being our top salesman with 16 tickets sold. I would also like to thank my wonderful wife Laurie for being understanding with all the e-mails and time I devoted to the event. But no matter what, Bleacherfest could not be a success without all of the wonderful and important attendees. This year we sold 100 tickets by including family, more family and friends. It's great to be a part of such a nice group! Enjoy the photos - if anyone has photos to submit, e-mail them to stecklow.com! Thanks again to all!
